The Great Vigil of Easter is the first celebration of Easter and is one of the most beautiful and ancient services in the Christian tradition.
We begin in darkness with the lighting of a fire outside. The fire is used to light a large Paschal candle, celebrating the victory of love and life over hatred and death. Through scripture, prayer, and song we remember God’s saving work throughout history, renew our baptismal covenant, and celebrate the first Eucharist of Easter.
This powerful and joyful service moves from darkness into light as we proclaim together: Alleluia! Christ is risen!
All are welcome to this special night of celebration. Desserts will follow!
