Hook, Line and Drinker Festival

Date: May 20, 2017 Time: 12:00 PM - 4:30 PM

Event Description

The Jackson County Chamber of Commerce will present the inaugural Hook, Line and Drinker Festival on Saturday, May 20, 2017. The event will be held from noon until 4:30 p.m., at the Bridge Park Pavilion in Sylva, N.C.

The festival will feature at least 10 craft beer vendors, three food trucks, 17 fishing guides and/or fishing industry vendors, and a farmers market from 9 a.m. until noon. Admission to the event is free with donations encouraged.

There will be live music from 12:30 until 4:30 p.m. by two of the region's most popular bands. Unspoken Tradition will perform hard core bluegrass from 12:30-2:15 p.m., followed by Terri Lynn Queen and the Stingers, who will perform classic rock hits from 2:45-4:30 p.m. Professor Whizzpop will provide strolling entertainment for children and adults alike from 2:30-4:30 p.m., including balloons, bubbles, magic and more.

Jackson County is the proud home of the WNC Fly Fishing Trail and the NC Trout Capital. In 2016, the N.C. General Assembly proclaimed Jackson County as the state's "Premier Fly Fishing Destination." The WNC Fly Fishing Trail features 15 hot fishing spots that run from the northern end of the county to the southern end of the county along the Tuckaseigee River. Jackson County is stocked with more trout than any other county in the state.

The chamber will partner with the Tuckaseigee Chapter of Trout Unlimited and American Rivers to organize the inaugural Scotts Creek Cleanup on Sept. 9, 2017. Festival goers can sign up to volunteer.
