To celebrate the release of Harper Lee’s Go Set a Watchman, Kerry Madden will present her biography on Lee on Saturday, July 11th at 6:30 p.m. Intended for ages 12 and up, Harper Lee looks at a down-to-earth Southern woman who has shunned publicity for a simpler life. Madden will also present her book on storyteller Kathryn Tucker Windham who was a dear friend of Harper Lee. Nothing Fancy About Kathryn and Charlie tells the story of an unlikely friendship between Kathryn and self-taught folk artist Tin Man Charlie Lucas. Go Set a Watchman is due out July 14th. Kerry is an Associate Professor of Creative Writing at the University of Alabama-Birmingham and also teaches at Antioch University in Los Angeles and at the Sewanee Young Writers Conference in Tennessee.
