"Are Two Better than One? Comparing our Rights (and Responsibilities) under the North Carolina and United States Constitutions." As part of Constitution Day, the Public Policy Institute is sponsoring a panel discussion that will look at the history, significance, and relevance of the U.S. and N.C. Constitutions. Building on Western Carolina's 2014-2015 theme of "North Carolina: Our State, Our Time," this year's event will pay particular focus on the North Carolina constitution in its relationship with the U.S. Constitution. This panel discussion will explore how the constitutions are similar, how different, the rights under each, and the relevance of each in today's society. Panelists will include Robert Orr (former North Carolina Supreme Court Justice and former executive director of the North Carolina Institute for Constitutional Law), Dr. Robert Ferguson, WCU Department of History. Open to the public and seats will be filled on a first come, first serve basis. For more information contact Dr. Todd Collins (Director, Public Policy Institute)
