BAC THEATRE
From trickery and disguises to serenading in the moonlight, Il Barbiere di Siviglia (Barber of Seville) is filled with liveliness and comedy at every twist and turn. Rossini’s nineteenth century masterpiece features a slew of vivacious characters that go to great lengths in search of friendship and love, encountering hilarious situations along the way. The music has been featured in countless pop-culture outlets – Robin Williams singing the famous “Largo al factotum” at the beginning of Ms. Doubtfire, and the classic Seinfeld episode when he tries to change barbers and gets caught “cheating” on his first barber with his second. Dr. Jon Truitt, ALO’s Artistic Advisor, will serve as the guest director, along with Maestro Dan Allcott, of Tennessee’s Bryan Symphony Orchestra, as our conductor. As one of the most well-known and recognizable operas, Barber of Seville is a can’t-miss opportunity to laugh at ridiculous antics, listen to beautiful music, and experience opera at its finest, here in Western North Carolina.
